Projects

Marketing & Better Signage

These were two more projects that were on the top of trader’s wish list in the BidBarnstaple Business Plan and one of those is providing better signage for the town centre. We are currently looking at designs and pricing of new signposts as part of our wayfinding project, which will also include the inclusion of high quality electronic information points. This will also provide information on upcoming events and developments, with listings of businesses, feature maps and business offers.

Central to the signage and information point is a new map that shows all the businesses in the Bid area listed by category and colour coded accordingly, which has not been done before.

The map is all inclusive of every businesses in the Bid area, with the end result that it will form a large part of the wayfinding project in addition to a strong marketing campaign. With 100,000 maps printed, 70,000 are being sent out through Publicity South West to a wide range of sites from Somerset to right across Devon, and include holiday accommodation, hotels, guest houses, B&B’s, pubs, restaurants, Tourist Information Centres, and tourist attractions. The other 30,000 will be kept for distribution around the town centre and also to send out to coach companies as part of another incentive we are currently working on to bring extra visitors into the town.

Brand New Website for the Town

Another project that is underway is the construction of a brand new website, with a free page and a link for every trader and business levy payer in the BID area. We are currently consulting with the Bid Board as to the format of the website and its overall look to make sure Barnstaple presents an exciting shop window to the world. The website will also an interactive version of the map which will place Barnstaple in a very strong position in terms of cutting edge and leading the way as a town centre.
